Sailor Moon: The Meet Up '25!!!

Sailor Moon: The Meet Up '25!!!

Joseph W.

From April 24th to April 26th, the Palladium transformed into a glittering tribute to the Sailor Guardians, culminating in a major cosplay meetup on April 26th. For four days, the iconic manga created by Naoko Takeuchi stepped off the page and into reality. As fans celebrated the intelligence, passion, courage, and love embodied by each of the Sailor Scouts, I found myself drawn to the Sailor Moon meetup hosted by the Moonies Club Chairwoman herself, Sailor Victoria Johnson.

VERSA, located inside the Renaissance NY Midtown Hotel, fans fresh from watching the Sailor Guardians touched down for the Moonies club meetup to celebrate friendship, fashion, and fandom. This event brought together fans of the Sailor Scouts from all walks of life, each one channeling their inner hero with dazzling costumes and cosmic enthusiasm.

Cosplayers came dressed as beloved characters from the series, making their appearances both noteworthy and unique. From brooches to capes, every detail was meticulously crafted with each piece of apparel shining in it own right..

The Power of Friendship

Fans greeted each other with hugs, daps, and kisses. The magic of Sailor Moon has always been rooted in friendship, and throughout the night, that spirit was on full display. Attendees played raffle games, took photos, and joyfully shared their love of the series. Smiles, laughter, and spontaneous photo ops filled the room. It was a beautiful reminder that beyond the glitter and transformation sequences, Sailor Moon continues to bring people together through kindness, unity, and heart.

The Power of Fashion

Sailor Moon and fashion? For one night, it wasn’t just cosplay. Here, she wasn’t just an anime character, she was the muse. And the people who showed up weren’t just fans; they were full-on pop culture warriors. Sneakers, sweaters, jewelry, transformational tiaras; a generation raised on transformation sequences and crescent moon wands took those iconic visuals and stitched them into streetwear, couture, and art.

Every fan, boldly and unapologetically, reminded everyone in attendance that sometimes, the right outfit really can help you save the world.

The Power of Fandom

When it comes to fandom, there’s something magical about it when it’s in full force, and the Sailor Moon fandom is no different. Fans of the series shared a common belief: Sailor Moon inspired them, and for good reason. For many, the series challenged traditional gender roles, encouraging viewers to look beyond labels and embrace their full, authentic selves.

For others, Sailor Moon was more than just a show; it was a source of comfort during difficult times and a community where they truly felt they belonged. This space became an amazing place to express their identity and creativity, and many reveled in its safe, welcoming environment.

 Final Thoughts

The Sailor Moon live action meetup was an amazing celebration of everything the series represents: friendship, courage, identity, and empowerment. From the cosplay costumes to the smiles and heartfelt networking, fans showed how a story that began in manga many decades ago continues to inspire and unite people from all walks of life. Whether through the shared joy of cosplay, fashion as self-expression, or the powerful bonds formed within the fandom, this event was a testament to the magic of the Sailor Scouts. #shoutout to the Moonies Club, its fans, and their Chairwoman for this amazing event.

Sailor Moon is much more than a manga/anime. It’s a living, breathing force that empowers its fans to be their truest selves and to stand together in the face of adversity. As fans gathered both at the Palladium and at VERSA, one thing was for certain: Sailor Moon and the Moonies Club is a reminder that the power of fandom, friendship, and fashion can create a universe all its own, where anyone can fight for love and justice.
