The power of the DJ and Emcee lies in their ability to select and curate a diverse range of music from different genres and eras. They read the crowd, choosing songs that resonate with the audience to create an atmosphere and energy that keeps people engaged, entertained, and coming back for more.
Entering Summer ’23, the Tao of the DJ is as strong as ever. Demonstrating their heightened level of musical skill, SailorBoomParty: DJ HighGnx and DJ Dimple and SonicBoomBox’s DJ Taylor Senpai have come back to reclaim their thrones as this summer has brought about the official end of the pandemic (stated by the WHO) and these DJ’s are captivating their audiences with their unparalleled showmanship and awe-inspiring performances.

Held at Baby’s All Right in BKLYN,NYC, DJ’s Dimple and Highgnx unleashed an unforgettable sonic experience on Memorial Day Weekend, transforming the dance floor into a swirling sea of euphoric dancers and impressive footwork. Collectively known as SailorBoomParty, the DJs transformed into their anime personas (Tanjiro Kamado played by Dj HighGnx and Nezeco Kamado played by DJ Dimple) to guide us on this musical journey, creating an atmosphere of unity, and a sense of wonder.

Along for the ride was the famed horror queen herself, IDKgravity, as she provided the vocals and seductive movements to keep the crowd hyped. Dazzling light displays, followed by a gathering mist, the crowd was spellbound as they used their Kokyū Hō' or breathing style for guests, leaving viewers in awe of their mix-music styles. This event, in my opinion, was both artistic and musical. The flickering of the lights, the sway of the performers; Admittedly, the Jabbawockee who was also present went ultra-instinct as he teleported between the stage and the dance floor, entertaining viewers with his footwork.

Twerk Competition
Effortlessly, she commanded the stage with her powerful demeanor, providing an infectious and contagious energy as she transitioned between segments introducing dancers, artists, and the notable, twerk competition.
A usual staple of the SailorBoomParty, the twerk competition was diversified as both genders participated, including one of anime’s most fervent supporters of the classic anime, Sailor Moon; Ms.OldSchool - Sailor Victoria of the Sailor Moon Fan Club.
SailorBoom’s clever wordplay, humorous remarks, and amazing improvisation brought delight to the audience as they created an atmosphere of camaraderie, positive vibes and inclusiveness.
Respect to these DJs as they continue to be inclusive and embrace the diverse tapestry of music and its listeners.
DJ Taylor Senpai – Rhythm and Connection
At the famed Spin NYC, SonicBoomBox (SBB) unleashed to the world an opportunity to play Street Fighter 6 on June 3, 2022. Capcom’s hit series has returned to the gaming community as Street Fighter has become more than a fighting game amongst friends. It’s now a digital global stage encompassing numerous esports tournaments, online opponents, and a ranking system giving you a real street fighting experience.
I cannot tell you how many times I’ve played Ryu and tried to fight someone in South America or Asia and won Those wins and losses are real when you lose.
In embracing the spirit of competition, Sonic Boom Box hosted a Street fighter 6 release party, featuring the musical stylings of DJ Taylor Senpai. Merch was also being sold by SBB as they showcased some artwork encompassing the famed SF characters followed by some additional Capcom elites from the Marvel vs. Capcom 2 series. The carefully arranged monitors, glowing LED lights, and state-of-the-art gaming equipment came together to create an alluring and enchanting atmosphere. The vibrant colors and immersive sound effects heightened the senses, transporting players into a world where reality seamlessly merged with the virtual. And while the gaming setup undoubtedly created a captivating atmosphere, the true essence and heartbeat of this event emanated from the musical stylings of DJ Taylor Senpai.
DJ Taylor Senpai
As he lead the charge with a flick of the wrist and precise adjustment of the DJ turntables. Fueled by the power of Apple technology and armed with an extensive knowledge of anime, hip-hop, reggae, and other rhythms, DJ Taylor Senpai seemed to have possessed the amaterasu as he created a musical experience that charmed the audience. Navigating the musical landscape, he seamlessly transitioned from one theme to another intertwining Anime-inspired beats with Hip-Hop, Reggae grooves with rock music and switching between cartoon theme songs with trap music. Overall, DJ Taylor Senpai transported the audience into a musical ecosystem, creating a musical experience unheard of, with guests loving every minute of it.
When particular songs played, the DJ even hopped into the crowd becoming one with the guests. Moving as both an emcee and DJ, Senpai’s charisma commanded the attention of everybody on the dance floor ensuring that every movement was noteworthy and appreciated.
I also need to recognize and shoutout the cosplayers that participated in the event. Some audience members celebrated their favorite characters or love of the game by dressing as their favorite street fighter character, or wearing merch that reflected their love of the game. From donning t-shirts adorned with iconic SF characters to meticulously crafting elaborate cosplay costumes, the fans fervently celebrated their unwavering respect and adoration for the series the best way possible.
Final Thoughts
DJs have the power to shape moods, create memories, and unite fans through the language of music. As they incorporate the world of anime into their musical repertoire, with careful mixing, they have the ability to transport listeners into the vibrant world of anime, evoking powerful emotions and transporting listeners back to the moments and emotions they experienced while watching their favorite anime series for the first time.
Their high-energy performances, coupled with their energetic stage presence, and knowledge of anime themes not only fostered a sense of belonging, but lead to an increased appreciation for anime music and support to the anime industry as a whole. SailorBoomParty’s DJ HighGnx and DJ Dimple and SonicBoomBox’s DJ Taylor Senpai have created a phenomenal musical landscape creating memorable experiences that will leave a lasting impact on party-goers further enriching the vibrant culture of anime fandom.
