SDCC@Home 2021: This Was For The Culture

SDCC@Home 2021 provided, once again, an eye-opening experience that allowed me to explore outside my comfort zone in the realm of pop culture. For me, I learned the importance of the Eisner Awards, the power of comic books and Hip Hop, the female entertainment industry and their search for IP greatness, and the power of being a Black nerd with a pen…

Blerdcon 2021: FUBU…Forever? Saturday Edition - Panels and GOATS

The Blerd Diaspora; which consists of POC who are gamers, cosplayers, comic book enthusiasts, movie goers, Blerd moms, Blerd dads, grandparents, married, divorced, PS players, Xbox players, health care workers, comedians, college graduates, high schoolers, introverts, extroverts, I could go on. NYCC 2020: Pop Culture Goes into the Metaverse

There’s no denying it: COVID-19 has all but eradicated fandom as we once knew it. What would have been an event, a celebration of pop culture and the people who make it happen has been decidedly muted this year thanks to the ongoing pandemic, but still not without its own bright spots. With NYCC going virtual, I still managed to see some decent panels.

PAX Online 2020: I was not ready....I DIED....

I’ve been to New York Comic Con (NYCC), Emerald City Comic Con (ECCC) and even Book Con. I’ve marveled at great panels; saw awesome fans and spent countless dollars on merchandise. But nothing, I repeat, noting prepared me for the 10-day event that PAX Online provided for me. Thinking, I’ve seen it all, PAX disproved that theory very quickly…..
