NYCC 2017: Thursday - Day 1
Thursday, October 5, 2017 marked day one of the annual event known as New York Comic Con by ReedPop exhibitions. With construction taking place at the Jacob Javitz Center this year, ReedPop has done the impossible. They have taken the event, which utilizes the whole 840,000 square feet and found a way to make more with less. Rather than ReedPop doing the usual separation of artists, comic book writers/sellers, cosplayers, collectible dealers and manufactures, etc., they have blended them in such a way that it feels brand new all over again. Even Artist Alley received a makeover with the section being close to the main floor.
For those who are regulars to this event, this day is considered the warm-up session for the other days to come. Veterans, such as myself, look forward to the creative awesomeness that each spectator, cosplayer, and entrepreneur brings to the comic book spectrum. Personally, I look forward to the arrival of new works from up and coming/veteran minority comic book artists.
For newbies (first timers) and Thursday/Friday ticket holders, we hope you understand why we wait in front of that computer every April/May the next year to get a Saturday ticket. Although, you saw a glimpse of what will be taking place for the next couple of days, the pinnacle of the show will be taking place this Saturday.
Although I wasn’t able to see everything because its day one, I hope to take as many pictures, buy and review as many new works from great minority artists and write as much as possible about this great four day event. Ladies and Gentlemen, NYCC has begun and it’s in full effect. If your have a ticket, go early and live out your imagination!!!
Also, if you see our writers: Tiffany Southall, Matthew Berner, Erik McRimmon and Ana Valentin and Robin Gray out there, give them a shout and interview.
We are Region 99
